Metallurgical image analysis

From Mathematics Is A Science

This came from a metallurgical engineer: "we would like to evaluate for % base metal (tan color), % primer (yellow bordering the dark green), and % top coat (dark green) the specimen is 6” long would it also be possible to get a second evaluation using this photo of the 4” in the center with 1” cropped from each end?"

The screenshot shows how one can capture the tan area of the image. Unfortunately, the yellow border is so thin that it's impossible for Pixcavator to analyze, under this resolution. I can't even see the green...

metal plate - original

The main feature - brown - is captured but not the more subtle ones
