MTH 331 - Linear Algebra. Vector spaces, matrices and determinants, linear transformations, eigenvalues and eigenvectors, and applications. PR: MTH300. 4 hours.

  • Prerequisites: Math 300, the ability to understand and write proofs.

  • Goals: understanding vector spaces, ability to work in the definition-theorem-proof format, some "mathematical maturity".
  • Evaluation: midterm, final exam, weekly homework, quizzes.

    • homework + quizzes: 30%

1 Description

This is a one-semester course in linear algebra and vector spaces. An emphasis is made on the coordinate free analysis. The course mimics in some ways a modern algebra course.
